Welcome to Bigger River Recording Co. I am John Blek. I’ve been working in music for the last 20 years as an artist and I decided that it was time for me to develop my own creative space and share my knowledge and musical perspectives with a wider artistic community. I built a recording studio in North County Cork.
I have released 12 studio albums to date. All of which I co-produced. I am well versed in tapping into the creative spirit and I’m very experienced in the process of managing recording projects. My records have been played on the radio all across Ireland, the UK & Europe over the last 10 years or so.
The Studio
At the Bigger River Recording studio, I have created a comfortable and simple environment that allows the artist to focus solely on the act of creating and recording their performance. It is a space free from distraction, not far from the banks of the Blackwater River.
I built the studio myself in early 2024. It is designed to have the lowest possible sound interference from the outside world. Since I have been using the space for my own projects, I have fine-tuned much of the acoustic treatment to the point where I now have a room I am proud of and happy to share with others.
I have curated an extensive and well-maintained selection of instruments and technical equipment. The room is highly adaptable and controlled. The focus remains on good music, a good performance and a good capture.
Services offered
Recording
We offer recording services, come along and track your music in a great recording environment. There is a Yamaha U2 piano, a Premier drum kit and numerous guitars, amps and keys that will be at your disposal.
Production
We can help you to build the sonic world for your music to live in as well as to get the best out of your performance.
Pre-production/ Songwriting
If you need help to complete your songs or assistance with structure or arrangement this is also something we can help you with.
Dry Hire
This is available but only under certain circumstances and must be discussed prior to booking.
Currently, mixing is not a service that we offer at Bigger River Recording Co., but luckily there are a whole host of great mix engineers that we can put you in touch with, all of whom we can highly recommend.
